The validation opportunities for skills, competences and knowledge are limited in the majority of EU Member States, opportunities to make skills visible and recognised for the benefit of individuals and society at large is largely underused.

SOLIDAR is closely following the process of adoption and implementation of the Council Recommendation on the validation of non-formal and informal learning and is advocating for setting up exchange and cooperation between relevant stakeholders to establish national arrangements for validations that take into account the specific nature of skills and competences developed in non-formal and informal learning settings.

SOLIDAR promotes non-formal and informal learning (NFIL) in the context of the European Council recommendation on the validation of non-formal and informal learning and to foster participation and awareness-raising on the validation of learning outcomes of NFIL. In particular, SOLIDAR focuses to promote the validation of skills, competences and knowledge acquired through non-formal and informal learning, specifically with regards to active citizenship and volunteering.
